Ramp Install Aft46 viewsThe Q-cell radius is installed bonding the ramp to the upper cowling and preparing the parts for laminate strips to be applied.

Ramp mold overview74 viewsThe ramp that will be bonded to the upper cowl will be laminated against a foam mold. The gap between the NACA scoops is faired with a smooth curve.

Oil Cooler Ducting55 viewsThere are not many options for picking up air for the oil cooler. We thought it best to do so after the ramp so that the air has time to diverge, slowing down for the redirection in air flow. Doing so on the ramp would make removal of the cowling difficult. Installing it on the firewall flange would not be possible and would be a poor source of air flow.

Ramp Seal Installed angle view53 viewsAnother angle looing at the ramp.

Axle and torque plate83 viewsHere you can see the axle with the torque plate, spacer, heat shield and door mounting bracket.

Installed less door84 viewsHere is a side view that shows the modified door mounting bracket. A section was made removable so the caliper could be removed for maintenance without removing the wheel and axle as is common with the Matco Brakes.

Caliper installed72 viewsThis view shows the caliper installed with the phenolic heat shield and the door mounting bracket.

Vertical Support46 viewsBecause the baffling sidewalls were so tall we added aluminum angle stock provide support against air loads while allowing for cylinder movement.
