Cowling Vertical Hinges differently74 viewsThe fuselage half of the hinge set is mounted on the outside of the flange as opposed to the inside of the flange to make the edge trimming of the firewall aluminum cleaner. There is very little shimming required when doing it this way.

Aileron Belcrank Bearing located54 viewsUse tape to wrap the bearing to just fit snug into the opening which is much larger than the bearing itself. Hot glue holds it still while drilling every other hole.

Canopy Lock Other View130 viewsI removed the tumbler assembly and ground the housing down so it is below the lock tumbler by the thickness of the canopy skins. This allowed me to drill a perfectly matching hole without the dishing out of the opening called out for by the manual. The lock installation looks much cleaner this way. The tumbler can be removed for canopy painting and reinstalled after the paint is buffed out.Mar 13, 2007
